Five Magic Spindles Contest and Cover Reveal!

How much fun are fairy tales?? I just love a good retelling/re-imagining! And I love the contests hosted by Rooglewood Press that inspire writers to be as creative and surprising as possible with the fairy tales we all know and adore.

Check out the deets on this year's contest...

Rooglewood Press is delighted to introduce their third fairy tale novella contest—

Five Magic Spindles
a collection of “Sleeping Beauty” stories

The challenge is to write a retelling of the beloved fairy tale in any genre or setting you like. Make certain your story is recognizably “Sleeping Beauty,” but have fun with it as well. Make it yours!

Rooglewood Press will be selecting five winners to be published in the Five Magic Spindles collection, which will be packaged up with the phenomenal cover you see here. Maybe your name will be one of the five listed?

All the contest rules and information (how to enter, story details, deadline etc.) may be found on the Rooglewood Press website. Just click HERE and you will go right to the page.

Rooglewood Press’s first collection, Five Glass Slippers is available for purchase, and our second collection, Five Enchanted Roses is scheduled to launch on July 27, and is currently available for pre-order. Be certain to get a copy of each and see what previous winners did with their wonderful retellings.

Inspired yet? :)

On a side note, can I just say how excited I am for Five Enchanted Roses?? I greatly enjoyed Five Glass Slippers and had a ball (pun intended) coordinating the blog tour for that last year. With the little tidbits I've seen (like title pages and blurbs for each of the five winning stories), I imagine Five Enchanted Roses is going to be every bit as wonderful and creative! And who doesn't love a good Beauty & the Beast story?

So, will you be entering the Five Magic Spindles contest, writing friends? Are you a fan of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale?

How lovely! What a great task Anne Elisabeth has set out to do. I think it's fabulous of her and Rooglewood Press to put these together - one never knows what it might inspire in an aspiring writer or the doors it could open for the. Wising everyone who enters the best of luck. :)

Rissi,

I agree! These contests truly have been inspirational, and I've loved seeing the stories the first one led to - not just in the collection, but in all the sweet indie-published reads. :) Looking forward to all the Beauty & the Beast stories coming soon, and then these Sleeping Beauty stories!

Thank you for your comment, friend, and wishing everyone the best of luck along with you! Will you be entering this year? The contest has inspired me, and I've started working on a story, but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to actually enter it or not. I'm thinking it might not be the right story for the collection, but maybe I can still finish and share it, regardless. :)
